The popularity of Pokémon, especially Pikachu, is apparent right now in the city of Yokohama, Japan. About 30 miles from the capital city, the second annual “An Outbreak of Pikachus” drew record crowds during the opening ceremonies. Much like last year, over 1,000 individuals dressed up as Pikachu descended on the city, causing all sorts of adorable chaos.

Pikachu Parade

Part of this outbreak is a variety of programs and entertainment opportunities for both adults and children living in the area. The grand finale, scheduled for August 16, 2015, will involve a spectacular stage show in which Pikachu, or the Pikachus I should say, will all dance, dance, dance with the audience. In preparation for this finale, instructional videos for the dance were uploaded to Youtube with a variety of Japanese celebrities participating. This is how you brainwash everyone make sure that the crowd can have fun as they follow along with Pikachu.

Of course, this all just might be part of a sinister invasion plan by the electric Pokémon to take over the world and destroy all the water…since that hurts electric-type Pokémon. Don’t just take my word for it though; check out their precision marching. Looks pretty militaristic from where I’m standing. And don’t forget, the participants call themselves the Pikachu Army.
