Japanese Engineers Replicate Human Vocal Chord

For all the hardware and engineering marvels the world has seen, Japan has topped the list in terms of innovation and technology.

Japanese Engineers Replicate Human Vocal Chord picture

This artificial vocal cord, developed by Japanese engineers, attempts to replicate the natural mechanics of how real vocal cords generate sound.

Complete with hydraulic-powered cylinders to modulate and syllabicate the sound generated from the inside, this prototype may be a far cry from its biological models, but this is just one of the many steps to perfecting a human robot — complete with components that look and function like human body parts.

But for now, this artificial model still lacks that aesthetic appeal, and netizens even criticized it for its odd looks rather than its promising purpose.

Now we begin to wonder, will it be possible for a vocal cord that looks like a pig’s snout to replicate the multiple octaves of Mariah Carey?
