A story about a beauty contest for cows recently was featured on this site. I bet you thought it couldn’t get anymore weirder.

Well, it has.

A beauty contest for goldfish was held in China!

More than 3,000 fish from 14 countries participated in the 1st International Goldfish Championships.

Fish owners battled for different titles but the World Goldfish Queen is the biggest prize of them all.

Qichang Ye, one of the judges, explained that there are five criteria: breed, bodily shape, swimming gesture, color, and overall impression.

A giant 1.75 kg goldfish caught the judges’ eyes.

“I have raised gold fish for some 40 or 50 years, and it is the first time I’ve seen such a big creature,” Mr. Ye said.
