Teen Dies After 40-hour Diablo III Marathon
An 18-year-old Taiwanese teenager was reported dead after playing Diablo 3 for 40 hours straight.
However, officials cite that his playing Blizzard’s newest game was not the direct cause of death.
The teenager, identified as Chuang, had started playing on July 13. He was found unconscious on July 15 by an employee at the Internet café. When staffmembers woke him up, Chuang managed to walk, but then collapsed.
He was rushed to the hospital, but was quickly pronounced dead.
Authorities guess that Chuang’s death is connected to him sitting and playing for a long time. Reports also stated that he had skipped meals.
Authorities also want to know what the teen had been drinking for the almost two days. If he had been drinking only energy drinks, that, combined with him sitting for such an extended period, could be the main factor behind his death.
