Shibuya Hikarie is undoubtedly creating buzz in and out of Japan since it opened on April 26.

This new shopping and entertainment mall has more than what a typical mall has to offer: office units, restaurants, event halls and a theater, too. But other than that, you may want to visit Shibuya Hikarie because of its “ShinQs shops” — or, to be exact, the restrooms.

The ShinQs shops, found on Hikarie’s B3 to 5th floors, have ladies restrooms (called switch rooms) that may make your jaw drop and wonder if you actually entered the right room.

According to Hikarie’s official directory guide, a switch room is more than just a standard restroom, making it a multi-purpose room. Of course, every woman does more than pee when in a restroom, but Shibuya Hikarie is something that allows you to “switch” your mood and feel refreshed.

So how can these switch rooms do that? Well, the switch rooms on the different floors of the ShinQs have different designs based on equally different concepts.

To give you an idea, here’s a rundown of what you can find on the ShinQs’ switch floors:

The B3 floor is designed as a French market.

On the B2 floor, mothers are given the chance to retouch their makeup, relax and browse the Internet while nursing their babies.

The B1′s switch room, meanwhile, displays the latest beauty products available in the ShinQs’ beauty and cosmetics section.

The one on the 3rd floor has art masterpieces on display and features an “air shower” booth.

On the 4th floor, each cubicle has a different design.

Finally, the 5th floor’s switch room has exclusive powder rooms that can be accessed only by members of Tokyu’s “Top & ClubQ card”.

So if you’re planning to visit Japan one of these days, make it a point to tour around Shbuya and see its very own Hikarie — whether for the switch rooms alone or not.
