Chinese Man Spends $16,000 on Virtual Sword for Unreleased Game

Spending money to buy virtual items is without a doubt one of the most ridiculous things you can do, but that didn’t stop one Chinese man from spending $16,000 on a virtual sword in a game that has yet to be released in China.

“Age of Wulin” is an expansive massive multiplayer online role-playing game, or MMORPG, that takes place in ancient China.

The fact that one man would spend the equivalent of an entire year’s salary for some people on a virtual sword for a game that isn’t available yet says a lot about his priorities.

The virtual economy of MMORPGs is apparently valued at $3 billion, which is utterly absurd.

Here’s to hoping this man gets the most out of his virtual sword.
