The World’s First Dancing Carrot Proposal

A most unusual event occurred earlier this month in honor of China’s seventh day of the seventh lunar month, which is often referred to as Chinese Valentine’s Day.

In the center of the eastern city of Qingdao in east China’s Shandong province, one love sick man named Pang Kun, went to extremes to show his appreciation for girlfriend’s love of the color orange.

He devised a unique wedding proposal, which took him three weeks to think up and plan. The end result was a group of 48 friends dressed up as carrots who danced before Pang’s beloved and very surprised girlfriend.

One carrot emerged from the crowd of amused shoppers who had gathered to view the unusual spectacle, stepped forward and began speaking through a microphone implanted in his costume.

He spoke fondly about their first date six months ago and then without warning, peeled away his disguise and proposed.

Onlookers shouted: “marry him, marry him,” and Ms. Zhang accepted either because she was so embarrassed that she wanted the whole thing to end or for all of the right reasons.

According to press reports, the proposal cost Pang a whopping 100,000 yuan ($15,000).
The proposal was captured on video below. Although in Chinese, the gist of the event needs no translation.

May Pang be as generous to his bride with another kind of carrot and may the course of true love always run…orange (or something like that).
