Chinese Road Sweeper Becomes Local Celebrity
One road sweeper in china has transformed lemons into lemonade in a most unusual fashion and has taken the concept of multi-tasking to a whole new level. She uses her broom to keep in physical shape!
Her activities have morphed her into a celebrity after a man in Beijing’s Chaoyang district made a short video of her performance with his iPhone and uploaded it to YouTube.
The talented lady, Zhang Xiufang, hails from Beijing and told the press that she was forced to take the street-cleaning job when her husband became very ill and was unable to work She needed to pay family bills and keep their daughter in primary school.
Her skill with the broom did not exactly come out of nowhere.
“Before I got this job I used to do Taichi both using my body and a sword, and I missed them because with this job I start at 5am and finish at 4pm. But then one day I was swinging the broom and it reminded me of my old hobby and then I started practicing again at work,” Zhang said.
The video was so successful that she was such a hit that Zhang was invited to star in a television program in Nanjing, the capital city of Jiangsu province.
Other street cleaners are in awe of her skill and have asked for some instruction in how to do some of her tricks. She has agreed to sprinkle a little bit of her magic dust everywhere around town.
