Frivolous Dog-Nipping Lawsuit In China
Although almost everyone in the world can relate to the difficulties of not having enough money to make ends meet, sometimes having too much money can also be a problem, albeit in a different and very fluffy way.
In Taiwan, judges have thrown out of court a lawsuit involving two neighboring millionaires and a housekeeper’s complaint that a pet Pekinese had been nipping at her ankles.

The original claim for compensation was not the reason for the case’s dismissal. It was instead, the series of publicity stunts instigated by the litigants that have defied and a made a mockery of the justice system.
In the instance that proved to be the straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back, the owner of the dog, heiress, Wang Xuan, hired eight nearly naked models to protest against “silencing justice” outside the courthouse.
Now Ms. Wang and her equally eccentric neighbor who owns a factory, will have to come to their own terms about who did what to whom.
This case stands as testimony to the courts being a playground for the rich although China is not alone in this regard when it comes to frivolous lawsuits.
Remember the American woman who sued McDonald’s because the coffee was “too hot?”
In all of this, a prime witness in the case was ignored. Perhaps the Pekinese could have added some truth to the situation?
Then again, perhaps not.
