Get That Monkey Off My Back!
What do you get when you mix a baby boar with a baby monkey? You get one unusual friendship!

Meet Miwa, a Japanese macaque, and Uri-bo, a baby boar, two best friends who reside together at the Fukuchiyama City Zoo in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. Ever since they met back in June of 2010, they’ve been inseparable.

According to the zoo, Uri-bo was found alone and separated from his parents, while Miwa was discovered weeping next to the body of her mother. Even after being brought to the zoo, Miwa kept crying in pain and anguish, prompting a bright zookeeper to introduce her to Uri-bo. Though Uri-bo initially didn’t like it, the two eventually grew to become better friends than Mork and Mindy.

Nowadays Miwa can be found constantly riding atop Uri-bo’s back. What’s interesting about this is that baby macaques typically ride the backs of their mothers. So in essence, Miwa has replaced her mother with Uri-bo.
Below is a video of the pair in action. Be prepared to laugh, cry and, if you have a pet, give it a big huge hug!
