Journalists and legislators at the Indonesian parliament were shocked to discover pornographic images on their computer screens!

This most embarrassing incident was no accident and it occurred while journalists were attempting to check the parliamentary schedule on two terminals near the media room that were designated for this purpose.

Instead of the expected conventional agenda, viewers were diverted to a porn site featuring hard-core photographs of young teens and the images were displayed for more than 15 minutes before officials could switch off the screens.

This incident comes in the ironic wake of the government’s campaign to block porn and other undesirable Internet content. Two months ago, a sex scandal involving the online release of videos depicting local celebrities engaging in sex forced the rulers of this heavily Moslem nation to face the problem of internet porn squarely in the eye.

“It’s not an easy task as there are four million local and international porn sites. Already 200 Internet service providers in Indonesia have since last June agreed to block sites that displayed sexual activity and nudity, and their efforts are extraordinary,” said Communications Minister, Tifatul Sembiring.

This more recent outrage was a direct slap in the face to the Indonesian legal-powers-that-be. The action was deliberate and pre-meditated; someone copied the images from a pornographic site, saved them and uploaded them to the parliament’s website.

“It’s not funny. Someone must be held responsible for it,” said Roy Suryo, a Democratic party lawmaker.

Clearly an insider was the culprit, but will they ever find out who and…why?

Time may or may not tell.

What do YOU think about this?
