To clarify, cremation releases the carbon into the air, while inhumation does not, so while inhumation takes more space and thus more money, it does not increase your carbon footprint.

All of this new technique takes a lot of energy… and where does that energy come from? In Sweden it's mostly water and nuclear, but it's not eco-friendly if the energy to do this comes from coal or oil. Inhumation is still the most eco-friendly way to go, even though it's more costly than cremation or their treatment. Still, I'm all for recycling us. We're no use after death anyway.
