Saving Love… One Jessica Alba at a Time
Loving someone is like keeping a flame lit; you must continually fuel the fire to keep it burning. And it’s oftentimes because of this annoying requirement that lovers do the craziest things, such as subject themselves to a Brazilian wax—or worse, spend 50 minutes faking it just to please the hubby.
The latest trend in this “keep the love alive” business is plastic surgery, which women typically use to either increase their cleavage size or fix a supposedly flawed body part. For 21-year-old Xiaoqing, a native of China, plastic surgery is her last chance at love with her ex-boyfriend.

The difference, however, is that Xiaoqing wants to transform herself into Hollywood superstar Jessica Alba, whom her ex creepily adores so much that he once bought her a blond wig for Christmas—and then to top it off, asked her to wear it all the time. In fact, her ex even demanded that she not only dress like Alba, but that she also wear her makeup like her as well.

All was well until one day, while Xiaoqing and her boyfriend were strolling through Shanghai, a passerby bust out laughing—provoking her to snatch off the wag (and fake eyelashes) and fling it at the ground. Both she and her equally distraught boyfriend then opted for a mutual breakup, which she now finds herself terribly regretting because she wants him back.
She said, “I love him very much. That’s why I always followed his opinions. I don’t want to lose him.”
And so to ensure that their love remains forever lit, Xiaqing is seeking permanent facial reconstruction at the Shanghai Time Plastic Surgery Hospital. It’s an expensive procedure that will, according to Liu Qi, an official at the hospital, require eyebrow lifting, eyelid reshaping, and a total reconstruction of her nasal area.
Thankfully, the crazy broad is rich; so rich, in fact, that she posted on Tianya (a popular Chinese Internet forum), offering a cash reward to any plastic surgeon willing to perform the surgery. It apparently worked and she’s all set to go, except for one slight setback: the Doctors are making her wait.
“We want to make sure she is prepared for the risks,” explained Liu. “The face-lift is irreversible and we hope that she would take it seriously.’
Xiaoqing defended her choice, as well as her state of mind, saying, “I’m not only doing it for my ex-boyfriend, but for myself. I am a psychologically weak person. I want to do something to challenge myself and build a strong personality through it.”
The best of luck to Xiaoqing, but turning yourself into somebody else to improve your self-esteem deserves nothing like less than a full-fledged FAIL!
