Marriage-Hunting Bra Heats Up Courtship in Japan
Triumph International recently unveiled a new marriage bra concept to please nagging mothers who fret about their single daughters. Known as the Marriage-Hunting Bra, this Japanese invention comes with a countdown timer and ring-holding slot and acts as a reminder to young women about their single status.
The bra itself looks like everyday lingerie with the exception that it is fitted with an LED display underneath the cups. Just above this display is the handy storage slot for an engagement ring.
In theory, the timer will be set to the expected date of marriage for the wearer. It will tick away, only to stop when the engagement ring slides into the allocated slot.
The Marriage-Hunting Bra features other wedding related devices like a pen and stamp seal, two useful accessories for signing the marriage certificate.
The bra, which is not for sale, was developed by the Triumph International as part of their initiative to encourage innovative ideas regarding lingerie.

So ridiculous, this isn't about helping Japanese ladies find partners this is specifically aimed to prevent Japanese ladies from dateing and getting married to non-Japanese men or non-asian men for that matter, Japanese women don't want to merry asian men because they are sexists. This is a total set-up in an attempt to make those poor asian men and their families bring back their power and control over women…NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!!! so just stop with BS and face the truth AND the truth is…Japanese women will continue to date and merry non-asian men and this trend is here to stay and its expanding into Taiwan, China, Vietnam, Thailand, and South Korea. So dream on…and Japanese ladies please do not fall for this stupid set-up trick that this company is trying to pull on you.

Hey some one will find a better use for this. Any innovation is worth waiting to morph into some very useful thing. One day they might fit with a microprocessor and when a compatible grooms comes along he boobs will light.

It's kooky and more than likely meant to boost marriage rates that are declining due to a growing movement of Japanese women who want careers instead of a husband. It is not racist in any way and I cannot see why anyone would derive something like that! Grow a sense of humor.

I would not say it racist BUT it is sexists beyond word!!!! this company is likely run by jelous men or ageing japanese people who can not imagine the changing world for Japanese women.

My wife is japanese and I am caucasian, she tells me all the time that the ageing people in Japan and the japanese men are trying everything possible to keep the japanese ladies from hooking up and getting married to western men, its so funny that these men think they can stand up to us american men…YEA RIGHT dream on japanese and all asian men you dont stand a chance against we american men so just face the fact that japanese and asian women will continue to date and marry us american men and theres nothing you can to do stop them. Maybe if you asian men would adapt to the changing role of women then they might not ignore you so much BUT I highly doubt any asian man would dare give up any power to an asian women oh god forbid that ever happening that would be the end of the world for the asian male population.
Oh yea and I love my wife so much she is the best thing to ever happen to me!!!! Thanks Japan

I think some commenters here are missing something. In the article it says the bra is 'NOT FOR SALE'! It's a novelty item only. It's not supposed to change japanese society or control who japanese girls marry or any of that. Jeez. And to the racists here who talk about competition with white guys, saying that Asian men are too controlling or whatever… shows how little you actually know about Asian society, just listening to stereotypes like that. I'm a caucasian female happily married to a Japanese man, living in Japan with his family, and there are many more like me. Trust me, there are just as many Japanese guys who are unhappy with Japanese girls and look elsewhere, and just as many caucasian girls who are unhappy with white guys and look elsewhere.

Good I am glad that you are happily married to a Japanese man…mixed marriages are great!!! and much more interesting than same race marriages because you learn about cultures at the same time that you learn and enjoy your special someone. I have lots of male and female Japanese friends and whenever they are around westerns they are as polite as possible BUT when there not around westerns the men are very bossy to the women and if the women dose not listen to orders then things will get ugly. However more and more Japanese men are ignoring Japanese women because they are more aggressive than in the past.
BOTTOM LINE: Japanese men do not want Japanese women working in the professional world and they refuse to accept this changing gender role in their society.
It is said that more than 60 percent of Japanese men today are gay/homosexuals and it largely ties to the increased aggressiveness of Japanese women wanting respect and equality from the men, which are two things the Japanese men refuse to give to the Japanese women because it means giving up power to the women. OMG it the end of the world as we know it to the male dominance over females in Japan.
I hope you and your spouse stay together forever and live a very happy life!!!!!
