Anaconda-Size Indian Pancake Sets Guinness Record
Some people are never satisfied! Even though the South Indian delicacy called the dosa must already have been the largest single-serving food item in the world, a restaurant in Ahmedabad, India, set out to cook one that was bigger still.
The resulting monster has made the Guinness list, shattering all previous records.

A crisp crepe made with a batter of ground rice and lentils, a dosa is typically served either rolled around a filling of some kind, or folded. It’s not uncommon for a rolled dosa to be the size of the eater’s entire arm. Some even reach 6 feet in length. Perched precariously on the plate, they jut far out to the right and left, posing a hazard to nearby diners and unsupervised toddlers.
But that’s mere child’s play, compared with the new record-setter. This time, the chefs at the Sankalp restaurant chain outdid themselves with a dosa measuring an amazing 32.5 feet! It wasn’t easy: Producing the mega-pancake required a team of 16 cooks and 8 assistants, and they managed it only after 10 days of practice.
The Sankalp people are no strangers to such efforts: They produced a 25-foot dosa in 1997, and their 30-footer set the Guinness record in 2006. But you have to wonder how far the madness can go. How big can a dosa possibly get? Will the day come when there’s simply not enough room in Ahmedabad to cook it? Could the record-setting dosa of, say, 2025 be so big that it qualifies as a suburb?
