Seeing as they were nomadic and traveling a trade route, there probably was no way of procuring new weapons immediately, so they didn't bury them with the bodies.

Maybe the weapons weren't buried with them as they were needed by others. Maybe seeing as they were just passing through on the trade route, there was no way of procuring new weapons, so they kept them. Makes sense to me, tha't what I'd do:)

If the Urumchi mummies were about 3000 years old, it is possible that they were of Celtic origin, although given the distance involved it is unlikely. They might have been Indo-European, but Indo-European is a language classification and not an ethnic one. The Germanic tribes also spoke Indo-European languages, as did other peoples far to the east of what is today Europe. Trousers, leggings and colorful clothing, etc., are the typical costume of steppe and Central Asian peoples..the Scythians, the Sarmatians, even the ancient ancestors of the Persians, etc...who were no strangers to the far western frontiers of the Chinese empire of old. What is curious is the lack of weaponry. The Celts, the Germans and almost all the tribes of vast middle lands of the Eurasian continent were known throughout recorded history as being very warlike. So it all remains a mystery.

Interesting! But I'd like to note two things: 1) there's nothing unusual in Celtic and other foreign artifacts to be found in remote areas - because the trade, even in those times, was international; 2) mummies' hair tend to look red because that's the most enduring pigment in hair. Please correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I've heard!

i've watched documents of these mummies and i think there a lot of propaganda, its fabricated as if these people were with out a doubt celtic but that was just a theory , we dont know for sure if they were celtics or not. i dont think there is solid proof to say that they were celts. the mummies were said to have had wool and weaved fabric that was similar to celtic style but how do we know if it originated from them or it was products of trade because the mummies also had cuca shells which are not native to that part of the world so obviously they got it from trade.
also this could be for political reasons because the uygers (chinese muslims) want to separate from china. i dont know something smells fishy to me.
