Angry Teacher Rips Student’s Cheek Off
On December 18th, 2008, a 10 year-old 5th grader named Chao Qun Zheng went to his elementary school in HeNan, China.
When his teacher, Guo, found out that young Zheng had not completed his homework, she flipped out.
“She was very angry at the time,” he said. “She ripped and twisted my cheeks with both her hands and then she lifted me off the ground.”
The teacher held the boy up until one of his cheeks actually ripped off and the boy was bleeding profusely.
Without hesitation the teacher reached down and picked up Zheng’s cheek skin, put it on his face, and instructed the boy go home immediately.
When the parents saw Zheng, they immediately took him to the hospital where it took 52 stitches to have his cheek sewn back on.
Zheng’s father has reported the case to the police and is expected to press for damages.

Nothing wrong with a bit of corporal punishment. I know this case looks a bit extreme but we don’t know the full story here, maybe this kid needed a lesson. The problem is that the rest of the so called civilized world is gone soft. Look at all the scumbags everywhere and they all know what they can get away with and there’s nothing anyone can do about it except take it.

So, what, a fifth grader forgets to write down 5*5=25, and gets his cheek ripped off? Hardly sounds fair. And so what if he is physically weaker (the ‘must have had weak cheeks’ person)? Does this mean he deserved what he got just for being a certain way? Maybe we should shoot you the next time you don’t show up for work? A punishment must fit the crime, and this clearly does not. If I were the parent, I would not hesitate to put a slug in the brainpan of this clearly braindead teacher. That said, it does take quite a bit to get me worked up like this. Child abusers are special, and will have a special circle to themselves in hell, I am sure. And if one is so weak that they must physically dismember a child, they deserve to die anyhow. I think the best recourse would be to give the kid a sword or sharp object, and tie the teacher up, and give them some alone time.
Alas, I do not suffer fools gladly, and the teacher here is clearly one.

Kids these days in general are soft, doughy scumbags of goo, unlike the sticks, stones, snakes, snails & assorted animal carcasses kids used to be made of. That’s why his cheeks broke off so easily; they’re detachable as as a diversion, like a geco’s tail. And it worked, he got the rest of the day off! No one else did, the tricky, lazy bastard. What a pushover that teacher is, doesn’t he know cheeks of mochi just grow back? I’ve had it bad when I was in school, daily sent to the principals office for a spanking, even if I didn’t do anything. But damn… that is awful. First things first, make sure the kid gets all the help he needs from professionals, second FIRE that person who claims to be a teacher, third press major charges and DONT back down till they are in jail! fourth, make sure they never have contact with children in any way ever again.

The children today are whiners because they are spoiled beyond belief and their parents don’t give them boundaries, not because of an absence of corporal punishment, which has proven to cause more harm than good in the end. For example: lifetime disfigurement.
Simply put, corporal punishment is the lazy (and often angry) man’s approach to discipline. I appreciate your, “Kids today…” sentiment though.

This child won’t be able laugh or smile the same ever again. If someone did this to my son I would pour acid on their face and give them a crippling beating so bad that they wouldn’t be able to do the one thing they want the most. Take their own life. I mean seriously. Look at the proportions. Compare the ear to the rest of the face. Only way you’d get that kind of distortion is with a fish-eye lens, and who uses fish-eyes to take photographs of injuries? A 50mm prime would have been my choice.

If it was my child, that teacher would be BEGGING police to put her in jail, because that’s the only place she’d be safe from me, and I mean that in a very real sense. This was a violent, physical assault on a child, and if the law doesn’t respond as it should, someone must – in order to 1) make sure that psycho doesn’t do it to any other kids, and 2) to show others that such assaults on children won’t be tolerated.

I think it’s acceptable for schoolwork to be physically enforced by a child’s own parents–I wouldn’t call it abuse. If my parents didn’t physically enforced me to do well in school, I have no doubt that I would’ve dropped out of elementary school. Having said that, the school teacher had no right to pull that shit (literally and metaphorically).

We in the U.S. seem to forget that we’re not the only ones in the world sometimes… It wouldn’t be surprising that this kind of action is taking place in a whole lot more elementary schools than the media is willing to share. Of course, things like cheek tearing is definitely media food and will cause traffic like what’s happening here.
Truly a shame that he didn’t finish his homework when the teacher was having her “bad day”. If that kid doesn’t get his act together, he’ll be shunned by the rest of society for a very important part of his life. And since he’s been on the news, he will get the kind of attention he definitely doesn’t want.

If you lift a mass directly in front of you, whether it’s 50 lbs or 50 kg, you must lift the mass! This applies whether it’s bricks or students.
The centre of mass of a human body does not ’shift around’ any easier than that of any other object—the centre of mass of any object only shifts around as much as it is pushed around. The only way that a ’shifing’ centre of mass will make it easy to lift a person—even a child—is if their centre of mass is shifted to be very close to the person attempting the lifting. The shifting only happens because of forces exerted by the lifter.
In this case, if the teacher needed to shift the boy’s centre of mass closer to her own, in order to lift him, then she evidently did so by hauling him forward by his cheeks. However we envision the scenario, it’s difficult to believe this not to be a blatant case of teacher rage.
In any western country, we would expect the administrative and legal systems to both censure the teacher and provide compensation for the victim. If China expects to be taken seriously as a participant in international affairs—and not merely from an economic standpoint—then it has to step up to the plate in terms of systematic protection of human rights. It may be easy to forget that this principle should apply even to the way a system deals with physical abuse by a teacher.

No child should ever have to go through anything like this over HOMEWORK!! THATS BLOODY RIDICULOUS!! he is 10 for goodness sake, i couldnt physically harm an adult over such pathetic reasons let alone a helpless child, the poor boy must of been absolutely terrified and now has a permanent scar reminding him of it!!
There could of been a perfectly valid reason why this child had not completed his homework, in some parts of asia children as young as 10 have huge responsablities, some work to provide and support for their family, looking after their home and siblings…. this child will be terrified to ever approach or confide in his teachers again for fear or physical abuse after what he has been through!
Just because these things have been happening for years all over the world does not mean it is acceptable, it needs to be addressed rather than ignored!!

The punishment for not doing your homework is getting points deducted from your grade, not this. How can some of you ignorant people leaving messages even begin to condone this type of behavior ?

That’s just sick. The poor kid didn’t deserve to have his cheek ripped off nor stitches just for not completing his homework.
When I was in primary school, I forgot to complete one page of my homework and I my palms hit with the sharp side of a metal ruler a good many times. This just proves that some Asian teachers are sick.

I feel sorry for this kid, he didnt deserve that in any way shape or form, regardless of how he was behaving. This kid will be left with mental and physical scars that will take a long time to heal.
As for the teacher being “unable” to lift him because of her being “an asian female” is lies. Youll be amazed at what the human body can do when under stress or in a life or death situation.
But regardless of the circumstances of how this incident occured the teacher needs to be punished, and her teaching licence revoked.

Although it seems common in China, the punishments as harsh is this is very, VERY rare.
I remember my friend got choked because her parents had requested her to sit in the front row because of her bad eyesight, and the teacher demanded money for it. My friend and her parents thought it was stupid and didn’t bring her any money, so she got choked. I think this was in Grade two…
I got whipped by a ruler because the notebooks the suppliers sent the school (which we had to buy) didn’t have lines drawn in them, so the teacher requested that the children ask their parents to draw the lines in them. My parents thought it was stupid,(who the hell needs vertical spacing lines for writing the alphabet anyway?) and I got whipped for that.
Not only do the teachers inflict bodily punishments (sometimes on young children, as said above), they also humiliate the student in front of the class as well, calling them ’stupid’ and generally bad names.
My friends nowadays tell me the teachers are more kept to themselves as the grades go higher. This has lead me to the conclusion that the teachers are more adept at taking advantage and abusing younger students than older ones, simply because the younger students dont really know that it’s wrong, and to tell a parent. This is highly unfair because the younger students are not only getting screwed over, but they are getting screwed over for nothing, because the younger students actually behave BETTER than the older ones.
Can you imagine the psyhcological effects it has on the children?

This has been blown completely out of proportion. My niece was there when it happened and that little monster had done all her could to torment the poor woman.
I understand that violence wasn’t the best choice, and that it is counted as abuse to some of you. And yes, I understand that other things could have been done. But I’m slightly glad this happened. This wont’ be the first or last time his attitude gets him hurt.

China is a huge and fascinating country with a lot of diversity, but also one of the worst human rights records in the world and incredible poverty and abuse. A full on comparison of the two countries? Well, how many of you are planning on moving to China or sending your kids to boarding school there? I’m older than almost every poster here, I’d be willing to bet, and when i was a kid, kids were pretty much the same, no braver, smarter, or better. maybe a bit more svelte, but then again some had worms or malnutrition.

racism is so pointless. im asian and dont really like asians as a whole. they are mean and stuckup. your story makes me want to cry because i at 28yrs old have nightmare about being left by a school bus ar age 5. im so sorry that it actually happened to you and in a different country. i cant imagine how scared you must have been. i just hate the way some people think its ok to teach their children to hate others without knowing who they are on the inside.

Also the fact that there are so many people living in poverty there is also due to businessmen paying absurdly low wages to their workers. So yes, the Asian culture has gotten the human race somewhere. The fact that most Asians are taking the jobs of doctors, lawyers, etc prove that the Asian culture isn't "crazy" it's actually getting them somewhere in life. Asians and their teachings are not crazy they just have a harder work ethnic. Besides I think your not in a position to criticize, judging from what you commented on this issue, i feel that your carefree attitude is probably never going to get you anywhere in life. (:

I feel that opinions shouldn't be made until the entire story comes out, but judging from some of the absurd comments posted here, I feel people already made there judgment on what they feel is right and what is wrong. If i was to take this matter seriously from what i read I would take the side of the child. Due to the fact that either way the teacher has done something wrong and should be sued, intentional or not. As for the article that can be read up there, i feel that the writer was somewhat biased towards the child also, it shows. (:

Honestly people like YOU are what is wrong with society. Those who must resort to physically injuring another person…especially a child…in order to make a point are pitiful sniveling examples of ineffectual human beings. Unable to express themselves in any way beyond lashing out and hurting others.
This is NOT corporal punishment. This is not a nun rapping a boys knuckles with a ruler for acting up in class. This is outright assault and abuse. I hope this woman was yanked immediately out of school before she injures and maims another child. Clearly she needs a psych eval and some help.
As many have already said he will be permanently physically scarred from this act and that is not to mention the psychological scars .

Wow im just glad to live in America where the teachers aren't even allowed to touch us anymore. That is just horrible abuse and i wonder how many other kids have been hurt like that.

guys this is not usual punishment in asia but this teacher went extreame step to punish the children. what she did is a crime. the parents can actually take an action against the teacher. Even me when i was kid one teacher hit me with strong wooden stick on my head and it got swelled, by Gods grace nothing did't happen to my brain. so,there are some crazy teachers. but parents have to come forward and take decision about this issue.

I am asian I think this is totally wrong! I dont study inan asian school and take it easy though i get really good grades. The teacher is crazy and just because of this I don't think foreigners should take this as an example of how asian education and mentality is. Believe me they sometimes do work their asses off but not all the time they still have time to relax and have fun and teachers won't really punish a child that hard if a fifth grader forgets his homeowrk
