Multi-Colored Japanese Potatos

Vegetables just got a little bit cooler in Japan, where the Hokkaido Agricultural Research Center has recently started growing multi-colored potatoes.

Not only are the potatoes more vibrant in color, but they are also supposed to be healthier as well.

The new potatoes come in red, purple, and yellow. The red and purple potatoes are healthier and can actually lower your cholesterol while the yellow ones just have a hint of chestnut flavor to them.

Either way they are likely to add some color to an otherwise boring potato side dish.

I agree. There is nothing at all weird about that. Potatos of these colours have been in mainstream supermarkets in Australia for many years. It is an everyday thing as common as a loaf of bread, there is absolutely nothing extraordinary about it. In fact it is just boring.

The purple ones come from Peru known as Peruvian Blue, the yellow are called Yukon Gold. While this is asian news, the potatoes have been on the market for years.

Ditto… if they cut them in half and the flesh is colored too, then that would be news!
