Women Lived a Year Undetected in Man’s Closet
It is a scary thought that someone you do not even know, could be living with you undetected in your own home. That is exactly what happened to one Japanese man recently.
The man was puzzled when he noticed food was missing from his house. Living alone and having never seen a rat, he could not understand how the food was disappearing.
In an effort to figure out what was going on, he set up security cameras around his house that would transmit images to his mobile phone while he was out of the house.
Shortly after setting up the cameras, he noticed some movement through the images and believing it to be a burglar, he called the police. Police where shocked to find the house locked and secure upon arrival, but when they entered the house, they discovered something both amazing and scary at the same time.
“We searched the house … checking everywhere someone could possibly hide,” Itakura said. “When we slid open the shelf closet, there she was, nervously curled up on her side.”
a 58 year-old homeless woman had let herself into the home one day, when the owner had failed to lock the door. She moved a futon into the small closet space, took showers, and ate the owners food while living out of the closet undetected for over a year.
The women was arrested and forced to leave the closet that she had come to call her home.

Yes, certainly sad as she wasn’t really doing any harm to anyone. I’m not sure I would’ve had her arrested, more so would’ve tried to get her to a homeless shelter or something.

Maybe she lived in a closet he never went into, most people that live alone have rooms with just junk that they don’t go in unless they have too. Wow, I’m shocked too. I think I’ll go look in my closets & under my beds now!

Hard to believe. I will google that story…
I mean, he doesn’t realize a futon is missing, he doesn’t open or check his closet for a full year, he realizes there is food missing only one year later, and everywhere else (kitchen, bedroom and, of all places, bathroom) looks, feels and SMELLS the same as he leaves…
They don’t specify if the guy was a travelling salesman, spending two days a month at home, and he was also deaf/blind. Only then I would buy that!

They claim in this link that perhaps she “moved between different addresses in the neighborhood”, but that leaves unexplained how could she get out of/into each one of them without breaking into them or moving without getting caught.

I am surprised to find out in comments that there is lot of people who believe this sort of things! Just look at it logically: how could somebody live in your closet and you wouldn’t notice that???

aw dad please dont tell them we have a closet for rent i was planning in moving in there in a couple of months, christmas tree tea peas and all, well there goes your surprise birthday party i was gonna hold in there.
