Following Poohat's comment.

I am working in Taiwan at the moment and I have gone to Taiwan in the summer for many many years of my childhood.

The second picture is definitely that of a Betel Nut girl. The Betel nut is betel quid (the leaf) wrapped in the nut. Chewed together it gives the user a buzz (like chewing tobacco). It uniqueness is that it will turn saliva bright red so when the chewer spits it looks like blood. Betel nut is commonly sold in shallow storefronts (like a booth) lined with bright lights and signs by girls in skimpy outfits to attract male customers.

I can't say anything about the first picture except that I'm pretty sure most companies would not allow their employees to wear such "skimpy" outfits. Some companies actually have uniforms (like mine) and those that don't have a dress code- usually something like knee length skirts and tights and a conservative blouse/cardigan/top (long sleeve or short sleeve- no sleeveless). Taiwan is actually pretty conservative in terms of dress (with the exception of the younger generation(s) today- especially at work.

Reminds me of a computer advert which showed (nice looking male and female) models wearing bathing suits, my boss hung it up at work and said these were our new uniforms. We all laughed, but worried, too. I like the woman's statement: "I have been on a strict diet to get ready for the day." How much diet is going to work in a couple weeks?
