Taiwan Really Understands Workplace Perks

Some jobs come with great benefit packages and others are are just fun. At least one work place was able to get the male employees cardiovascular systems jumping.

The Audrey Underwear Company in Taizhong City, Taiwan, named November 21 “Camisole Day” in order celebrate record sales. Much to the delight of their male employees, all 500 female employees were encouraged to wear lingerie to work to celebrate.

More than 90% of the female employees went along with the idea and worked all day in their undies.

The company PR manager, Huang Bihui, stated “We introduced eight new camisoles into market and sold more than 20,000 in less than two months so we named the 21st as Camisole Day.”

Zhang Yufeng, 32, a mother of two, admitted: “I have been on a strict diet to get ready for the day. When I was trying on my outfit at home, my husband told me I should dress like this every day.”

And Liao Wenshen, 30, added: “The men were red-faced all day, and were becoming so polite to us. It’s so funny!”

There have been critics, but company lawyers assert that as long as participation was voluntary, it’s not illegal.

Wu Juanyu complained: “Some women may feel forced to join in because of peer pressure and job competition. I don’t know if the company is selling underwear or women’s bodies.”

The only perk I ever had at work was a 401K.

This wouldn’t be a bad job if people didn’t come in here!

Definitely a good example of where cultural differences and lack of PC-ness freeing room for fun comes into play. Over 90% too — that’s really high!

I wonder when the next “perk” day will be.

Male staff should wear boxer shorts to accompany their female employees.I’m sure the men would be much more shy then the females!

I call Baloney, I actually live in Taiwan (originally Canada) and have lived in Taichung , the photo’s they use are pretty open to interpretation, the second one is a photo of a Betel Nut girl, wich is not unusual at all to see in Taiwan. And the first picture looks like some normal office working chic in Taiwan anyways.

Reminds me of a computer advert which showed (nice looking male and female) models wearing bathing suits, my boss hung it up at work and said these were our new uniforms. We all laughed, but worried, too. I like the woman’s statement: “I have been on a strict diet to get ready for the day.” How much diet is going to work in a couple weeks?

Lol. That could be fun, watching how nervous the men would become.

I am at the office right now, images of my female co-workers popping in my mind… not all of them pleasant…
