You have heard of people doing outrageous things to get a hold of limited items during the holidays like the old Beanie Babies or the popular Wii gaming system. But what if you saw a crowd of people stampeding to get some cooking oil…
Well recently in China, that is just what happened.
A local store in Chongqing held a promotion selling cheap cooking oil, resulting in a mass stampede in which three people were trampled to death.

China has since banned limited-time promotions in stores to avoid another incident from occuring.

ive experienced a similar thing back in china…it was not fun!! : (
*sigh* Sad. We here in the US are going to see the same thing with gasoline soon.
if president busch was smart enough to use renewable energy this would not happen
Being greedy,has it’s misfortunes!!
capitalism still rules
These pictures may not be from the actual scene. The Carrefour here in Beijing always looks like this, with the exception of those damn Middle Eastern diplomats parking their cars (with their special embassy plates) in the middle of the damn street in front of the store. Hey, wait a minute. That second picture is from a Wal-Mart, which is always more civilized than the Carrefour.
the leopard print clothes are just … ouch
OMFG!! People were actually KILLED!!
that just goes to show you the greed in this world that we as citizens must live with. thats a real shame that innocent people had to die for the sake of trying to get a basic cooking neccesity.
