Additionally, the fashion industry is one of the biggest proponents of materialism. Also, the fashion industry relies heavily on sweatshops and other bad working conditions in the manufacturing of their clothes. The monks have taken a vow to avoiding attachment to material things. So this doesn't make much sense for them to be doing this, seeing that by their appearance at the show, they are essentially condoning what the fashion industry stands for, Or perhaps they are not real monks and I am reading too much into it :) Not really sure how the monks being part of the fashion show really spreads the message of the Buddha.
