China’s Monster Big Space-Bred Pumpkin
A Supermarket in Zining, China, recently put this monster big space-bred pumpkin on display, attracting many customers to admire it.

British sailers once gained the name lime-ies because they drank lime juice…….. Will Chinese Astronauts become known as “Pumpkin Eaters”?

You guys make it sound like it’s national news or something. Get with the program, just because it’s on weirdasiannews, doesn’t guaranty it’s totally true nor in fact “news”.

I would be interested to find out how they grew it in space and then got it down to earth safely. I noted that the pumpkin is much rounder that terrestrial pumpkins, perhaps due to lack of gravity?
Note to Grumpy naysayers, have you ever seen a Chinese Pumpkin? Perhaps before you start crabbing, find out what the normal size that a Chinese pumpkin grows and *then* complain about what size space grown veggies should be.

Weird Asian News……. Ahh that explains it….. I thought I’d gone to CNN…….. No come on, the weirder it is the more likely it is to be true…….

This is a larger than average sized pumpkin, but by no means huge even in China where halloween is not a part of the culture. I think it should be noted that space bred does not mean space grown. They took seeds up and had them exposed to the radiation in space.
What is more interesting is the color and the relative lack of vertical ribbing compared to most pumpkins.

Umm… it is tiny. Not new worthy. Every year where I live, they have contests where a pumpkin is hollowed out and rowed in a lake by a full grown man.
