OK Biker here too... He probably seriously almost wiped and was stunned by that, I mean he had to scrape or swipe something pretty hard to tear his leg off, Sometimes those near misses just freak you and you take a few minutes with your heart pounding before you can relax and "come down" from it.

Also after a wreck with a friend on the back, we walked the bike back to our dorm and went into a room where a couple of girls were waiting on us and they looked at us a wigged out, we looked at each other and were like "Sorry we we're late we crashed... What?" We were covered nearly head to toe in blood but neither one of us even SAW it on the other one until then. It was weird and had to be shock. But we had SEVERE road rash and didn't even begin to notice it until then and didn't feel anything for about 10 more minutes when our friends started trying to scrub and clean our road rash out also at that point I started getting extremely nauseous and thought I was going to puke, don't know why. I did hit my head but had a very good full face on, could have been a minor concussion but more likely the come down from the adrenaline high or realization of what happened...

I'm still shocked to think he could ride on sans leg and not spray so much blood that he just bled out and died, and what happened did he pull up to a light and go to put his foot down and just tip over? Id love to know more details... Maybe a crush/crimped, femoral artery and so it didn't bleed so bad? Makes no sense to me.

The thing we're seeing here is endorphins at work. They literally cover the nerves responsible for sending pain during intense situations, preventing pain messages from being sent to the brain. It's the same thing that gives us war hero stories of men doing great deeds and only afterward noticing that they've taken one or more bullets.
