China’s First Pole Dancing Competition

The very first Pole Dancing competition was held in Beijin recently by Luo Lan, whose Lolan Pole Dancing Club has been working hard to promote Pole Dancing all over China.

Critics were not happy even though the organizers insisted it was just harmless fun.

Luo Lan says pole dancing here has, “nothing to do with sex”. Rather, it is a “healthy and positive” way to exercise, while also improving students’ self-image. Luo aims to “promote pole dancing in China” through this month’s inaugural competition, themed “fitness and fashion”, which is backed by the Asian Bodybuilding Federation. Entrants are encouraged to display their technical skill and “creative flair”.

The competition attracted over 50 competitors including male dancers .

Let me quote “Luo Lan says pole dancing here has, “nothing to do with sex”. Rather, it is a
“healthy and positive” way to exercise, while also improving students’ self-image.”

That’s exactly what I’ve been telling young ladies for years now…….

Yeah right, if it was not meant to be sexual: they would be fully clothed.

No, actually if you are fully clothed, you cannot grip the pole. The are many points on the body that need to come into contact with and stick to the pole in order to execute many of the manuevers. Little clothes are functional;the fact that they are cute is just a bonus.

Cool! I wish I could participate! Shame I’ve just started my pole dancing course at Portobello Green Fitness Club. By the way, the teacher is great!

While discussing activities in China my friend told me about the craze this is creating in China right now. Took a little while to figure out what she meant calling it “Pipe” Dancing but I got the jest.

You know this is no more erotic or sexually oriented than Belly Dancing or Hula Dancing. I think it is more in par with Gymnastics for crying out loud. I tell you this “Dancing” is just as strenuous as any Gymnastic Exercise could possibly be. It is about time we got something that was considered Sexual and Erotic in the past and proven it to be a honorable worthy physical activity. You can make just about any activity obscene, don’t you think its about time we reversed some of the trends and put something back into a wholesome moral activity. Stop trying to find sex in every thing. Its like blaming the girl for being raped because she wore revealing clothing.
