Japan’s Don Juan Arrested
A 65 year old man was arrested on Tuesday by Japanese police in a million dollar fraud case. It is alleged that he preyed on bar hostesses around the same age as him.
Yukichi Kamibeppu made and distibuted his own DVD’s in which he performed songs about how wonderful he was. One original song was entitled “I’m a famous handsome guy”.
He would propose marriage to the women and then swindled their money. One 57 year old hostess was fleeced out of 12 million yen. He would ask the women to lend him money which he promised to pay back when his tax refunds came back.
He would make out that this sum was in excess of 300 million yen and to seal the deal, he would talk about his expensive ranch.
This particular lady reported the matter to the police. On further investigation, it was found that he had defrauded 16 people out of approximately 370 million yen – not including another 148 million he had swindled from the same woman!
Despite his self-promotion, Kamibeppu is “an ordinary-looking man, though he may look younger than 65,” according to the police official.
