Chinese Woman Pregnant for 58 Years

In Sichuan China, a doctor preformed an X-ray on a 90 year-old woman and found that she was carrying a dead fetus for 58 years.

The old lady named Wong, lives in Qing Sheng Province.  In February this year, she hurt her back while she was trying to carry a bucket of water.  The family took her to the hospital 2 months later for an X-ray.  That’s when the doctors found out that there was a dead fetus in her uterus, though it was severely distorted.

The woman recalls in May 1949, she was pregnant with her second child, but the baby was never born even far after the due date.  She went to check and her doctor told her that she had a still birth.  She didn’t have money to pay for the operation so she decided to leave it.

For 58 years, she didn’t feel that it was bothering her at all besides carrying a big belly all the time, and now it’s already became a part of her body.  The doctors said the fetus might already be calcified, but it’s still a miracle.

In 2005, there was an 81 year-old lady in Thailand carried a still birth baby for 58 years.

In 2006 in England, an old woman from Morocco was discovered that she’s carrying a dead fetus for 46 years.  Her story made for documentary by the British TV show.

I can’t find the original news for this on 长江网. Could you provide a link to the source or something?

Wow, a 90 year old woman hurt her back carrying a bucket of water and it took her family 2 MONTHS to take her to the hospital?? What is wrong with this picture??! Why is a 90 year old woman doing manual labor?

Perhaps the maid and butler were off for the day?
it is fairly common for people in rural areas to do manual labour, young and old.

Unfortunatly this happens all the time in impoverished countries. I saw this on the Discovery channel about a woamn in India. The body protects the woman’s body by covering the fetus in calcium much like a gall stone or a kidney stone and therefore doesn’t poison the body. It doesn’t happen often but it does happen.

Perhaps you will think about the rest of the world today when you drive to work at your job or when you visit your doctor and think of that 90 year old woman who still has to work every day. Perhaps you can do something to make the world a better place instead of griping about it.

Trish,

First of all, I do not drive to work at my job, unless I am a delivery boy lol.

The US could eradicate poverty but the voters chose war. So why should I think about this? It’s sad. I’d rather get a cup of joe from Starbucks and hope Paris Hilton notices me! As you said, the human body will take care of itself.

Come on, there’s no way to eradicate poverty. All they would do is just raise the poverty line. Give everyone in the world a million dollars and then the millionaires are the poor people. And inflation would be pretty bad, too.

Oh, and voters didn’t choose war, they chose Bush. Bush and congress and whatnot chose war. And no, the US can not eradicate poverty, in your definition, on it’s own.

China has Starbucks and they all wory about Paris Hilton more than we do.

Fail.

Yes the woman was old and it is possible that this condition occured but the fact that she was the age she was is amazing on its own! hard life may not be a bad thing in some ways. What is the life expectancy there versus other places in the world like North America? LOL Alot to say about physical work, its effects and the lack of physical work and the results of that long term.

Poverty is easy to fix, all the un needs to do is take over all the military and weapons of the world, and not allow any trade with countries that demand to have a military. Put an 100% tax on any and all income that someone hearns over 100,000 dollars. have the older people retire to 3rd world countries, spreading the wealth and culture. I got the hell out of the USA as I was told to do in the bible “Then I heard another voice from heaven say: Depart from her, my people, so as not to take part in hers sins and receive a share in her plagues, for her sins are piled up to the sky, and God remembers her crimes.” Revelations 18:4
I feel this way because the USAF had me flew 185 combat missions over downtown Hanio, getting bombs dropped on non-combatant women and children, and then twice a week playing nuclear retailation with the Russians. park your car-refuss to work anymore-burn SUV’s & gas stations, until the USA treats the whole world as equal & FREE, not just those inside its boarders. leroy_slater@yahoo.com
