It is not just about western and eastern cultures because other eastern cultures do not eat dog. I think it is more about cultural and religious practices, culinary history and social perceptions in general that determines an acceptable diet. Dogs, pigs, monkeys, and cows are all animals that are and are NOT eaten for various reasons. It is a circular argument to reason why it is right or wrong to eat a particular animal; unless, there is legislation enacted to protect a species. It is simply my personal opinion that house pets and primates should not be eaten. I cannot substantiate my opinion other than it was the way I was brought up. I suppose if I was brought up in a culture that prohibited pork from my diet, I would not eat pork . . . etc. No need to devolve into racial bashing.
