It is important to note that in China there are no lines. So in order to make it onto the bus you have to push and shove your way to the front and then board the bus if you can make it on.

Many train stations will have a VIP section that will allow travelers about a 2 minute head start in which to get to the train and board quickly.

I will tell you from experience this head start is not a pass to a sure seat. I found myself still running at full speed to get on the train even with the head start.
