A young man who had been spurned by his lover risked his life by climbing onto a high- voltage pylon to perform pull-ups on Sunday.

The 22-year-old man in Xiamen, Fujian, was spotted ascending the 40-meter-high pylon on Sunday afternoon. He stayed on the pylon for several hours performing risky stunts, such as taking off his clothes, urinating and doing pull-ups.

To reduce the chances of the young man being electrocuted, the local power supply bureau cut electricity to the area. Four hours later fire-fighters climbed up the pylon with ladders and brought the man to the ground by force.
