Massive Tug-of-War in China

Local resident try to connect a steel rope to be used for a tug-of-war in Lintan County, northwest China’s Gansu Province on March 3, a day before the traditional Chinese Lantern Festival.

Tens of thousands of local residents participated the tug-of-war, using a 1,808-meter-long steel rope which weighs eight tons. It is a tradition in the county to hold a tug-of-war competition on the Lantern Festival, which falls on the 15th of the first lunar month in Chinese calendar.
