I really have to wonder what made anyone think to use urine in this manner.

Did the thought of how to use urine for something useful came first, or was "what can I power a battery with" first?

Does what a person consumes alter the output of whatever it is that is needed in the urine to make this work?

Can person eat/drink specific things to make a better battery?

Are there foods/drinks that should be avoided if you are going to use your urine to power a battery?

I am confused. You have the elecrolyte (copper chloride), the dissimilar metals (magnesium and copper).

1) Does the urine really contribute anything but the solvent (water)?!

2) If this is really 'urine powered', does adding additional urine provide additional output? How many times can you add a drop of urine and get that '90 minutes' of output? And how much copper chloride is left in the paper when you are done? How does the copper chloride participate in battery operation?

3) Doesn't the output look about the same if you use distilled water?

4) If this is about the ions in urine, why doesn't urine work with a plain paper dielectric layer?
