Man runs 4,580 miles across Sahara Desert

A Taiwanese ultra-marathon runner has completed a 7,500 kilometers (4,580 miles) trek across the Sahara desert in 111 days.

According to local media reports, Kevin Lin and two other runners arrived at Suez Canal on Tuesday after departing from western Africa.

The trio began their run from Senegal, and passed through Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Libya and ended in Egypt.

To meet their target of finishing in 111 days, the three slept for just five hours over the final five days while running 600 kilometers.

A documentary of the epic run has been made with Hollywood star Matt Damon narrating and Oscar-winner James Moll directing.

On Wednesday, Premier Su Tseng-chang said Kevin Lin has set a good example.
