The farm in Saijo, Ehime Prefecture, imports soil, lettuce seeds and pots from Norway and grows the seeds in a greenhouse without using agricultural chemicals.

One lettuce plant in a pot sells for 200 to 250 yen at local supermarkets. “We want the product to sell well here first,” an official from the farm said. “Then we hope it will sell well across Japan.”
