Most expensive chocolate cake ever

Probably the most expensive chocolate cake in the world, this 14 inch tall cake was displayed in a department store in Osaka, decorated with 50 carat diamonds.
Selling price? One billion Yen ( US$8,308,400).

I think you have miscalculated the selling price. The selling price in yen is Ten Million yen. Eight Million dollars would be one billion yen, but as you can see, the diamonds are’nt worth that much. Perhaps I’m being picky, but there is no clue as to whether the number of diamonds is fifty at however many carats, or if it is however many diamonds at 50 carats each. By the way, a one million eight hundred thousand dollar cake was reported by the Australian News site ( http://news.jams.tv/jlog/item/id-460 ) as having been offered by the Ginza departmant store Takashimaya. It was reported as having been a double-layered six-sided fruitcake iced in pink. It had 223 heart shaped 5 carat diamonds. The strangest thing about the article was that it mentioned that the cake was preserved so that it could remain fresh for a year at room temperature. It was thought that the stunt would stimulate sales for the 2006 Christmas season.
