$167 Brick purchased online

A woman who remitted money through the post to buy a mobile phone received a brick instead.

The woman, surnamed Yin, lives in Hechuan District of Chongqing Municipality. Last month she sent 1,300 yuan (US$167) through the post to an address advertised in a local television program to buy a mobile phone.

The company in the ad claimed to sell the phone for 2,700 yuan (US$346) less than the price in stores. But the parcel she received in return contained a brick.

With the police’s help, she was able to reclaim the money she had sent to the company.

I have to ask though, why did the company even bother to spend the postage to mail a brick? Did they think the lady would be fooled by it…?
