Excuse me sir, but your horse has no plates

Traffic police in Zhengzhou, capital of Henan Province, were stumped for an appropriate punishment when they stopped a man riding a horse on an expressway last weekend.

Horses are illegal on an expressway, but the rider, a 50-year-old man surnamed Shang, had no driver’s license, and the horse had no license plate whose number the police could record.

The only thing police could do was to instruct Shang, who with the horse had been hired for a ceremony in downtown Zhengzhou, to dismount and walk with it to the nearest exit.
