Man injured by Giant Carp seeks compensation
A man, surnamed Wu, who was hit by a 3.3 pound carp and become paralysed, has filed a lawsuit against his employer, surnamed Huang, in the city of Zhongshan, Guangdong Province.
Wu is seeking 100,000 yuan (US$12,500) in compensation, the Zhongshan Daily reported.
A local farmer of Dongsheng Township, Wu was employed by Huang to help catch fish in a fish pond in the city’s Xiaolan Township, early this year.
Wu was knocked down by the big fish that jumped up from the pond suddenly while he was catching fish from a small boat.
He fell into the pond and doctors later found that he had injured his cerebral artery.
Wu was discharged from hospital after 15 days, with the medical costs totalling 10,522 yuan (US$1,315.25).
Wu went to court after Huang refused to pay any compensation, saying it was an unexpected accident. The local court is arranging to open a public hearing.
